Linux Support Services by IT3 Consultants

Since the early days of the Linux operating system — a POSIX UNIX-like kernel — IT3 Consultants has been active in this area. We have completed numerous Linux installations on Intel, IA64, and SPARC systems, integrating them into existing networks and infrastructure. From file servers (including Samba/CIFS), mail servers, and web servers, we have done it all.

Gratien D’haese was one of the founders of the Linux SIG (Special Interest Group) of OTA (Open Technology Assembly) in 1994 and has spoken at Linux SIG events on several occasions.

Key Benefits

We do not claim to be the best in our field — just have a look at the presentations on Linux topics given at various Linux SIGs on our SlideShare page.

The key strengths we bring as a company:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Linux operating system from kernel internals to application layer.
  • Decades of experience in UNIX in general, and the GNU toolchain in particular.
  • Remote and on-site support for Linux systems.
  • Reliable, cost-effective solutions for mission-critical servers using Hardware RAID or Software RAID with LVM2, and modern filesystems such as ext4, XFS, and Btrfs.

Note: ReiserFS was marked obsolete in Linux 5.19 (2023) and was fully removed in Linux kernel 6.13 (January 2025). JFS is in maintenance-only mode. For new deployments, ext4 or XFS are the recommended choices.

  • Linux as an internet server platform — HTTP, FTP, mail, file sharing (Samba/CIFS), and firewall.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, SMTP, NFS, and more).
  • Maintainer and lead developer of several Open Source projects over the years:
